This picture has recently been re-attributed from Domenico Ghirlandaio to his brother Davide (Italian, 1452 - 1525). The sitter resembles a young woman in the frescoes painted by Domenico for Francesco Sassetti in the church of Santa Trinita, Florence. She has been plausibly identified as Selvaggia, the fifth of Sassetti's seven daughters. Another portrait by Domenico, of Sassetti and his youngest son, belongs to the Metropolitan Museum.
