Rafael Arroyo Fernández (1860 - 1908) was born in Granada on January 24, 1860. He began his academic training at the School of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in that city in 1873, remaining there under the tutelage of the still-life painter and landscape art Julián Sanz del Valle until 1881.
