George Lloyd (born 1945) has lived west and east, and different weathers coexist in his work to strong, sometimes disturbing effect, especially in the paintings he has made these past twenty years while living in Maine. After graduate work at Yale in 1969, he went to the Bay Area, where he lived until 1982. He spent those formative years in the wake of Bay Area Figurative painting of the 1950s. Soon after arriving in Berkeley, he was befriended by Elmer Bischoff and joined his drawing group.
