Still Life with Pitcher and Fruit demonstrates Zhabski’s precise and naturalistic style in addition to his commitment to Romantic Realism. Originally from Siberia, he moved to Moscow to study easel painting at the Surikov Institute of Art under Dmitri Mochalsky before working for many years in Uglich, a town on the Volga. Examples of his work are held in the State Tretyakov Gallery collection along with a number of Russian and international galleries. Zhabski (1933 - 2008) was awarded a silver medal at the Russian Academy of Arts in 1997 and a medal for Merit in the Development of Fine Art from the Moscow Artists’ Union in 2008.
