![Camille Corot - Souvenir of Mortefontaine [c.1889]](http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7564/15686177636_864f0acbdd_o.jpg)
As the title indicates, the painting does not depict a specific landscape, but is the result of the idealised memories that the artist kept of the town of Mortefontaine (northern France), a place Corot frequently visited in the 1850s. Corot painted a similar work, The Boatman of Mortefontaine.
