Carl Skånberg - Landscape with Windmill

Carl Skånberg (Norrköping, 1850 - Stockholm, 1883) was a Swedish artist. Although he died young and was plagued by serious illness, he became one of Sweden’s most famous landscape painters. Even as a child he was hunchbacked and could not attend friends' games. His freedom of inspiration and radicalism set him apart from the early French Impressionists. Richard Bergh counted him among those who played a significant role in the more modern and more radical direction in the Swedish landscape painting.
